Jessie’s Eats and Treats – Breakfast & Lunch in Downtown Valdosta

For lunch today, venture off base and treat yourself to a local favorite tucked away in historic downtown Valdosta.  Voted best caterer in South Georgia for 2012, Jessie’s Eats and Treats serves up breakfast and lunch in their charming storefront restaurant.  Any self-professed foodie knows that some of the most surprising food finds can be found in a caterer’s storefront so prepare to be impressed.  Jessie’s Eats and Treats offers much more than a sampling of their catering fare with an extensive menu of breakfast foods, sandwiches, wraps, pizza’s and salads.  Located on 111 West Central Ave, Valdosta, GA, Jessie’s Eats and Treats is open for breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday 7:30am-3pm and for a Sunday breakfast buffet from 9am-1pm.  There is plenty of parking along the street and in the lot off Toombs Street, which allows patrons to reach the restaurant through the back entrance (just look for the sign).

We were overwhelmed by the menu choices on our first visit to Jessie’s Eat and Treats, which were colorfully listed on an enormous white board above the cash register.   Lucky for us, the staff was happy to make recommendations and tried to entice us with some of their most popular items such as the chicken salad sandwich and the grilled cheese sandwich of the day, filled with spicy buffalo chicken, blue cheese and cheddar.   Always a favorite is their variety of specialty pizzas loaded with unique toppings like BBQ chicken, spinach, and feta cheese.   For $7.99, try the hot daily special of chicken potpie, two sides and a drink.   All of their lunch meals are similarly priced making it an ideal pick for a reasonable mid-day meal.  Just order your meal at the counter and find a seat.  Check out Jessie’s Eats and Treats daily specials posted regularly on their facebook page: and view a full menu of all of their breakfast and lunch offerings on their website:  You can also call 229-247-4670 to ask about their specials or catering services.

We settled on the chicken ceasar wrap with fresh fruit and a fully loaded hot dog with a side salad.  Once we sat down we noticed the endearingly quirky touches throughout the restaurant of themed salt and pepper shakers on each table and a smattering of decorative mirrors all over the walls.  Jessie’s Eats and Treats also has two outdoors seating areas that would be the perfect place to enjoy breakfast on a breezy Sunday morning.

A friendly server quickly delivered our meals and generous fountain drinks to the table.  The chicken ceasar wrap was a green spinach tortilla stuffed with crisp romaine leaves, warm recently cooked chicken and creamy ceasar dressing.  The side of fruit included seasonal items such as strawberries, kiwi, and grapes and was a perfect light summer side.   The hot dog, always a staple comfort food, did not disappoint and was loaded with fresh onions, relish, mustard and ketchup.  The side salad came with a tub of savory balsamic dressing that made me want to finish every bit.   Our friendly server came back several times to take our plates and refill our drinks so that we didn’t feel rushed.  He also tried to convince us to take a piece if their well-known Snickers pie, but we were too full to indulge.  A slice of the pie was sitting pretty in the refrigerated case near the register and was calling to us, so we made it a promise to come back for it soon.

Jessie’s Eats and Treats has a full dinner menu available for catering that includes items such as loaded potato casserole, mashed sweet potatoes, baked ziti, spaghetti, and many, many more.  Even more impressive is their list of homemade cakes and pies such as caramel cake, midnight chocolate cake, and key lime pie (my mouth is already watering!!).  On the bottom of the menu is a small note that says “Other items available upon request” that convinces me they would be a very flexible caterer when it came time to decide the menu items.

We are already planning our next trip to Jessie’s Eats and Treats so we can sample their breakfast buffet.  If their lunch is any indicator of the quality of food Jessie’s Eats and Treats offers, breakfast is guaranteed to exceed expectations. They whole-heartedly support the Moody AFB military community so don’t forget to ask for your military discount!

For dependable good eats, take a trip to Jessie’s Eats and Treats in downtown Valdosta.  You will be happy you did!
